Chapter 13 "I CANs"...
... visualize particle collisions which create a gas's pressure
...explain in my own words how a barometer works
...use and convert between the following units of pressure mmHg, torr, atm, kPa & psi
...convert between Celsius and Kelvin
...relate the volume, pressure, amount and temperature of gases using Boyle's, Charles's, Gay-Lusaac's, combined gas law and ideal gas calculations
...relate the total and partial pressures of a mixture of gases using Dalton's law calculations
...use particle picture calculations and KMT to model gases and their behavior
...interpret STP in various settings for gas samples
...perform gas stoichiometry using standard molar volume

This Week's Goals - All due Fri 4/24 except socrative exam.
To be completed at students own pace but in order as shown below. Gas Experiment #1 is this week's major assignment (the only one being officially graded, but all of them would normally be done & are helpful in learning about gases)
- MAJOR ASSIGNMENT = Gas Experiment #1 - Complete Can Crush Lab (create your own slide in presentation)
- Read 13.1-13.4 (notes are optional)
- Gas Experiment #2 - Perform pHet simulations (post to Quarter 4 Assignment Tracker)
- Review Intro to Gases PowerPoint
- #’s 1,4-6,7a,8a,10,11,13,16-20 (post to Quarter 4 Assignment Tracker … I know these are boring but they are the VERY BEST way to see if you’re really learning the new material!)
- Review teacher videos
- Socrative Gas Quiz A
- Gas Experiment #3 (thought experiment explained in video below)
Socrative Quiz Info...new one posted every Friday :)
See if you've learned what you should have this week, but Socrative quiz grades entered into Aspen do NOT count in your grade.
Log into socrative.com and join the room for your class period. I've separated the class periods out into five rooms: TRINE1, TRINE2, TRINE4, TRINE5 & TRINE 7. If you did not take the chapter 7/8 exam &/or the chapter 9 exam, please consider doing so. You can always take them. They are waiting in their own socrative rooms called "CH78TRINE" & "CH9TRINE"
- try your hardest
- use your study materials like you will when you take an optional final exam (keep them organized!)
- learn from it
- realize it's not as good or thorough as our normal tests
- relax because it's not graded
- wash your hands, go have a snack and do something kind for someone else when you're done :)
