Stay safe everyone & we'll see you when this is all over :)
If you have any questions about anything, email me! [email protected]
All work done during the COVID19 closure needs to be turned in on time using the following Assignment Tracker (link). If you post work over the break, you will be allowed to use that work on the real tests we'll take when we come back to school. If you don't post things on time, you don't get to use them on the exams later.
Week 26- 3/16 to 3/20
WEEKLY GOALS -
- Stay safe & be kind (Meditate, read, stretch, push-ups, cook - stay away from public places. Be smart & be brave, we’ll make it through this together by staying apart)
- Post completed work from last week by 3/18 (Rxn Lab Data table and Mystery 6 Lab)
- Review Chapter 7 & 8 “I CANs”
- Continue editing Climate Film (post online by 3/30)
- Review all ch 7 & 8 PowerPoints, especially new one titled "predicting products" and "net ionic equations"
- Watch YouTube Review Videos posted below (boring but helpful!)
- Complete chapter 7 & 8 socrative practice exam (I will post it on Fri 3/20)
MUST POST ITEMS - students need to post a link to their work for these tasks on the assignment tracker (link)
- Draw a graphic organizer that identifies and organizes our six major rxn types and two super categories
- (Double Replacement = PPT & Acid/Base, Redox = Synthesis, Decomposition, Combustion & Single Replacement)
- HW review questions #’s 41bdf, 42ace,43-46,48-50
- DUE DATE FOR THESE = 3/23, but do them earlier to get ready for Friday's exam!
Online Chapter 7 & 8 Exam
To take the required, ungraded, but still good practice chapter 7 & 8 exam, click on this link (https://b.socrative.com/login/student/) and join the room TRINE3501. An exam is waiting for you there. Take it once before 11:59 on Sunday 3/22 when it closes and...
If you have any questions, send an email.
- try your hardest
- use your study materials like you will when you take the real exam once we're back in school (keep them organized!)
- learn from it
- realize it's not as good or thorough as our normal tests (especially for particle pictures and ionic equations)
- relax because it's not graded
- wash your hands and go have a snack when you're done :)
If you have any questions, send an email.

Chapter 7 & 8 "I CANs"...
...identify the 4 signs of a chemical rxn and the 4 driving forces of a chemical rxn
...properly represent states and formulas of reactants and products in a balanced chemical rxn
...classify rxns as synthesis, decompostion, combustion, single replacement (these four are redox), acid/base or precipitate (these last two are double displacement)
...predict products for acid/base, precipitate, combustion and single replacement rxns when told the reactants
...describe a chemical rxn in word, molecular, complete ionic, and net ionic equations
...use activity series to predict single replacement rxns and solubility rules to predict ppt rxns
...use particle pictures to explain behavior of strong electrolytes when dissolved in water
...explain the meaning and use of wooden splint tests
